Hey man. Great to hear the news.
Here's a question, which may, at first (or maybe ever) make no sense:
Are you Jewish?
I'm Jewish and livin in Brooklyn.
Noticed the article and your name, and whatever, I guess this email is not so much about the music, which I'm sure rocks but more of an attempt to connect to another Jew.
So allow me to say it like this:
May Almighty G-d bless you with success and happiness your whole life. May you be b'simcha (joyfull) always, and have everything that you need both materially and spiritually.
here are suggestions for names of your band if you do not have one already. i have a lot and I hope you can take the time to read them. thanks allot. If you use one let me know i would feel honored.
Yes, I believe it is the same Steve Isaacs from MTV. And the same Steve Isaacs that I saw in touring production of The Who's Tommy many, many years ago. By the way, haven't seen a good tour of it since.
Since Dave posted his comments as post # 6767, why not call the band "6767"? There's got to be something to that number. It's either a cool band name or a pick-4 lotto number.
Good luck with the new band! I'm a big Jane's fan but since all the guys (you included) are such good guys I'll be mourning the passing of J.A. and looking forward to a new, exciting chapter in modern rock history!
To the guy above me that said "There's got to be something to that number." in reference to 6767... that number is Dave Navarro's birthday, June 7, 1967.
If as you say, the "drama" going on with JA is seperate from what you are doing is true....
Why do you keep posting links to articles about the "drama"...........
Wow. I hadn't heard the name Steve Isaacs in sooo long... but then my good friend Elmo heard the recent band news on the radio and called.
As if it wasn't surreal enough seeing your likeness on Tommy pinball games.
btw-- we finally had to burn "213" onto CDs before the ancient tapes wore out... And I think we have video of your last night at Highland Grounds before heading off to MTV, too.
Good luck from some friends from waaaay back in the Highland Grounds days...

I have nothing against you, but I am a realist. You, PERK, Dave and Chris are about to flop big with this project.
Any reason for parting w/ Perry is wrong...ANY.
You're putting yourself on a pedestal and you won't be able to deliver.
The hearts of diehard JA fans are broken along with Perry's. After following JA, traveling all over to see them, and devoting countless hours to being a JA fan I can never forgive Dave or PERK.
You and Chris are simply seeking your 15 minutes by playing with Dave and PERK...neither of you are worthy of being mentioned in the same breath as true artists like Perry Farrell.
My bass player could bury Chaney any day. Skycycle? Please.
I usually just ignore the negative stuff that comes through here, but I thought I would address your comment. I totally feel what you are saying, and yeah who knows, this whole project could flop, but I can't really be worrying about that. As for the guys not having a valid reason to part with Perry - that's just unrealistic. Bands are like marriages, usually ten times worse, when you add egos, drugs, money, fame, and all of the things that come with success.
When my folks got a divorce I might have thought that it was impossible and that they were making a mistake, but I was a child and had no idea about the depth of their emotional relationship. As the years passed, they grew into the people that they were supposed to be, and would have been totally hindered had they stayed together. If a band doesn't want to play together, guess what - it's better they don't than have the music suffer. Wasn't that why Perry broke up JA back in the day? What did you think then? I was so pissed when that happened, but I would have been more pissed if they had stayed together out of some misguided obligation to a fan base, and put out inferior slop.
As far as Chaney and I - you're wrong. Chaney is an unbelievably sick bass player, and I would bet both my testicles that he could smoke your bass player any day of the week playing only with his dick.(no disrespect to your bass player, but Chaney is that good) As for me, you'll have to wait and see, but if you want a copy of Perry, you'll be disapointed. I'm a songwriter and a singer - I write songs and sing them. Either you like them or you don't.

You are an Elliott Smith fan, and working with some of my all-time favorite musicians, so you are alright in my book. Good luck with the new project.

Steve,
After re-reading my post, I have to admit it's too harsh, and I let my enormous disappointment take over a bit. I lashed out, kinda stupid of me.
Your response was well measured, and you could have tore me a new azz but didn't. That tells me something about you. Pretty cool of you.
It's just SO terrible that Janes is done.
Best of luck, and tx for responding to my idiotic rant.
