Give us a sign

face_close_iconTook Wendybird's advice, here's a pic documenting a guy's week alone while his girlfriend is out of town, as he stays in his room all day and night, living solely on Atkins bars and low carb Halloween candy:

Woke up, got my car washed, it was disgusting. Stopped at a nice little coffee shop called Priscilla's and sat for a while watching cars go by and working on "Project P". Alot of the business of putting this thing together is in the reviewing and going back over what I recorded the night before. Have a little system going: tape ideas at night with the Mbox (ProTools jr.), make mp3's, put them in a playlist on my iPod, and the next day eat, walk around, whatever, and listen to the night before. I am getting alot of ideas being out and about. Well, I was... more on that in a minute...

Worked on "N1"(song 4) all day today, took a break to watch Survivor (getting better), and The Apprentice (great from the get-go this season). This has been the hardest song yet. Alot has to happen in the song, and I really want the meaning to be clear, so the narrative can move along. It's a difficult balance. I really have no idea if what I am writing is crap or not. I am obsessed with working on it, and seeing it completed, but it's so hard to actually hear it objectively. It's been 8 days now...

So it looks like I finished "N1", it still will need some tweaking for the next few days, and if the guys DO like this thing I am writing, then it will change anyway. I'm not writing areas for solos, or instrumental sections much, hoping that the jam room inspiration will fill in all that. So that's song 4 in the sequence done. This one will be really fun to bust with the guys, it has "loud" written all over it.

The bad news is that during moronic asshole practice this evening, I dropped my perfectly good 400.00 vital songwriting tool, my trusty iPod into the bathtub. Yeah I know, brilliant. It pretty much sucks for my walking around working on music scenario described above, as I can't afford a new one. I went on an iPod board to figure out out how to pry the little bastard open, and dry off it's little expensive guts. I'm hoping it will spring to life, like some of the others' iPods' had on that board. Crossing fingers.

Dont worry Steve, you look better when your on a work binge than I do normally.

Steve, thanks for your advise!

i dont usually warm up before band practice, but i think i will start doing that now. i usually find that at the end of practice my voice sounds best, so maybe if i warm up it will sound good from the start.

thank you again steve!!

AAAHHHH! Scared me for a sec there-j/k. Somebody better spend the day cleaning up before somebody gets back, lol! Dude, everything will fall into place for ProjectP, you and I know it. And we also both know it's not crap, or you wouldn't be spending so much time with it. It's very difficult to become obsessed with crap, that is, unless you're really into Scott Stapp. Okay, no hater stuff, sorry, just trying to be funny, retract that last comment. And the IPOD will work just fine.
Peace

AhhhhHaaaaa, your still a cutie "P

..i hope i don't sound/look like a retard doing this ...myabe i shouldn't include my name..(as if Steve hasn't thought about this already...but just in case):

How to get your iPod serviced:
It's easy! Complete the iPod service request form to receive service for your iPod or accessory. If your iPod requires service, Apple will send you a prepaid shipping box you should use to send your iPod to Apple's repair center.

What happens when an iPod is serviced?:
iPod equipment sent in for service is replaced with functionally equivalent new, used, or refurbished iPod equipment. Service is processed through AppleCare's direct mail-in system. You will not receive the same iPod that was sent in for service. If your original iPod was personalized by Apple, your replacement iPod will be automatically personalized with the same text.

How much will my "in-warranty" service be?:
Service for repairs that are covered under Apple's one-year limited warranty or the AppleCare Protection Plan for iPod is performed at no charge for twelve (12) months and twenty-four (24) months respectively from the date of the iPod's original retail purchase ("date of purchase"). Under the warranty a shipping and handling fee will apply to all warranty repairs performed six (6) months after date of purchase. The current shipping and handling fee in the United States is $29.95.

What about "out-of-warranty" service?
If service for your iPod is not covered by Apple's warranty or the AppleCare Protection Plan for iPod, Apple offers other options. If your iPod requires service because the battery's ability to hold an electrical charge has diminished, in the United States, Apple will replace your iPod for a service fee of $99, plus $6.95 shipping. If your iPod requires service for other issues (except accidental or misuse damage), in the United States, Apple will replace it for a service fee of $249, plus $6.95 shipping.

Will the data on my iPod be preserved?
No. Songs and files will not be transferred to your replacement iPod. Make sure to back up important files, and to remove all data from your iPod before sending it to Apple. Apple is not responsible for any data sent to it in connection with service.

heLLo Steve!

i would die if my iPod will get drawn! honestly! Thats why I always backup the songs, u can use iPodRIP or PodWorks, that allows you to get your songs from the iPod in case u don't av them anymore on the HD. Steve, for all this little sharewares, only serial you will need...lol and for that..the golden mine is the SerialBox on macosx, available on macserialjunkie.com!

Funny coincidence, but today, appleInsider annouced a "real" rumor! The iPod Color Screen 60Go out soon, doin pix too! Guess you should find in this new one, a good replacement!

Boring a guy's life when the girlfriend is away, isn't it?? I'm in the same boat right, as she's in paris til december to finish her architecture studies. After the freakin moment we both had on tuesday, we're all good, and stronger than before.
So now till the 22nd of october, when she comes back at the weekend, I guess its MAc+Internet+Upgradin to LogicPro7 and music...and the box with Nhl05..Lol

Enjoy,

FreAk*

Thanks steve for the picture. :D

low carb halloween candy??? Yikes

How many people to you think we have posting on this and Dave's site? Probably around 40-60. If your IPod doesn't start working again, or that Apple service doesn't go through, I'm sure everyone here and at 6767 would love to chip in to get you a new one! I know I would. I mean, it is for the good of the band and all. ;)

lovely pic Steve! always nice to see your face. sucks about your iPod. i can just picture the moment... lots of bad words, right?

Freak, it's good hear you are doing better. it is true... what doesn't kill you makes you stronger.

low carb candy? Isn't that an oxymoron? I feel your pain on the girlfriend. My husband's been in Miami all week, and it has sucked. Sorry for Freak too...that's a long time. Sorry to hear about your iPod, but sounds like you got some good advice from the people here. I hope it works out and gets fixed. Glad to hear that you're finished with one of the songs. I'm sure it's great. Aren't we all our own worst critics?
Everyone, please don't get a flu shot this season if you're a healthy person. No one between 20 and 50 needs one if you're healthy. Because of the shortage this year we should save them for the older people and babies who are at risk of getting pneumonia. Thanks.

Jen

That's a very scary and intense picture then? Especially the eyes.

So hope the I-pod is brought back from the dead (!)

Now go and make yourself some proper food!

In the bathtub huh....with water in it...well thats a good sign right??? I have to agree...that you don't look so bad all scruffy. Though I will admit that I jumped back a little when I opened the page!! Good luck with the ipod fixin....you might wanna stay away from moronic asshole practice in the future!! LOL

I think Riss sounds like a very neat lady!

"I think Riss sounds like a very neat lady!"

It seems like both of them are well suited for each other.

wouldn't a waterproof ipod be cool? that's all i could think of to add to this conversation! most of it's been said already! :D Steve, you're still looking good!

awww feel sorry about the ipod. Sound like me I'm so clumsy like that. I've been spilling liquids like crazy this week. I haven't spilled it on anything electrical, but I'm waiting, the week isn't over yet.
