Halloween Weekend

Panic_pumpkin_1The bad news is that "Halloween Season" is coming to a close this weekend, and the good news is that it's gets best right at the end. Riss and I have been trying to do one Halloween thing every night this week leading up to Sunday. The other night we carved some pumpkins (two more to go), and last night we went to the Hallowed Haunting Grounds.

Riss found this site for haunted happenings in L.A. We're going to try to hit a couple more off the list this weekend, but last night we went to the "Hallowed Haunting Grounds" - really just a front yard in the Valley that was absolutely insane with decoration. The entire thing (it was big) was so meticulously themed out that we walked around with our jaws open. The look of it was very dark, elegant and gothic, not cute Halloween "spooky" style. It looked like a movie set, ghosts on wires slowly floating in shadowy groves over perfect gravestones, every area had a soundtrack and amazing detail. We're going back tonight. If you are in the Valley and like this stuff, you really should check it out.

We plan on hitting the one in Van Nuys after that (Grimmstone Cemetery), then we are probably going on the walking tour of Hollywood Forever Cemetery tomorrow morning. Later on, Chaney is having a Halloween party. Riss is going as a dead fairy, and I am going as a generally dead zombie type guy. I wanted to get the white contacts and really do it up, but can't really bust for that right now.

Might also check out the Spooky House haunted theme park, went a few years ago, and it wasn't so great, but it seems they add more every year, so we might see how it is these days.

We're out of the studio til December, so now my focus is back on the Panic website - in between all this seasonal stuff, I am on the coffee-induced trance state of website work routine. 2 days left!!!!

Got some work done on "Project P" this week; started song 5: "PB" and song 7: "N2". Also got some lyrics for a later song, "ER". The subject matter has a lot to do with this time of year, I am hoping that the inspiration stays after the holiday has passed, so I can get it mostly finished and show the guys.

Riss wrote this poem about today - it ROCKS!!!!

Friday before All Hallow's

Listen to the air
Can you hear the sound?
There is rumbling beneath the ground
Tis the Friday before All Hallow's Eve
Did you hear that coffin creak?
Cauldrons are boiling
Banshees are screaming
The night is approaching
For all trick or treating
The ghouls are preparing
The vampires sit in wait
The witches and fairies are laying sweets as the bait
For the unsuspecting
So be you ware
For Friday night is here
Two more nights to go
Two more nights til the seam
The seam of all we know grows thin
And the world of all that’s spooky
Comes creeping in!

Steve, just read your response to Ed, I don't want to be one of your so called "suck-ups" but you really handle a debate well.

Riss, beautiful poem, I give you an A plus for imagery and word choice....

Careful, you two, or you will knock Carmen and Dave out of the "cutest couple" spot!!

Have a great weekend, make sure you take pics!!!

I enjoyed reading the comments section. For those who are still in doubt, here are several more reasons to go out and vote for the Kerry-Edwards team...

a) If elected, John Kerry would have a better enviornmental policy. Kerry's enviornmental policy would be better than Bush. It is much more likely that Kerry will reduce our dependence on oil by championing technologies such as renewable energy such as windpower, hybrid vehicles and emerging energy technologies such as hydrogen power. Over the long term, this will reduce our dependence on Middle Eastern oil and make America stronger.

b) Kerry will be more focused on national security than Bush. When confronted with a national crisis oremergency, Kerry (and Edwards too)have the intellectual curiosity and organizational capacity to get a grip on a complex problem by asking detailed questions from all angles, have the flexibility to explore the problem deeply and adapt policy positions that are independent of narrow political and ideology considerations. Can you imagine what would have happened if Bush were commander in chief during the Cuban Missle Crisis? It would have been an utter disaster, especially if Bush had listened to the military brass. Kerry, on the other hand, is far better siuted for the job as Commander-In-Chief since his mind is more disciplined. Kerry's experience in Vietnam and his ability to tackle and follow through on problems lend itself to manage a crisis reminiscent in the way Kennedy successfully managed the Cuban Missle Crisis back in 1962.

For those voters who are still undecided consider what Bush has accomplished in the last 4 years:

1)Bush has spent the U.S. surplus and effectively bankrupted the U.S. Treasury effectively shattering the record for the largest annual deficit in U.S. history.

2)He has protected his friends at Enron and Halliburton against investigation or prosecution.

3)He has presided over the biggest energy crisis in U.S. history and refused to intervene when corruption involving the oil industry was revealed.

4)He set the all-time record for most days on vacation in any one-year period.

5)Bush garnered the most sympathy for the U.S. after the World Trade Center attacks and less than a year later he made the U.S. one of the most disliked countries in the world.

7) He is the first President in U.S. history to enter office with a criminal record.

8) He completely mishandled the situation in Iraq by not examining the situation in depth and by not listening or understanding to advice from military and policy experts. Even today 'W' is in denial and out of touch.

Rick

SNL just totally dissed Ashley Simpson!

AHHH NO! These elections are ruining Halloween. Go have fun and play. It's a HOLY DAY.

PS. That was to Rick. Rick I know that is all important, but we all need play days too.

The one thing about it already being dark here is that the suspense is killing me!

Hope all is going to plan/schedule!

Awwwwwwww (noise like an impatient child!)

Off to do some prep for the nasty external inspectors visiting our college tomorrow... I'm bound to get picked tomorrow if I stay up all night waiting for the site to appear!

Look up Chameleon Club in Lancaster, PA...you guys would love the atmosphere there..has a great feel to it...EXCELLENT sound projection!! Oh yeah...they pay pretty well too...always a bonus. Ok...I'll not so patiently wait...heh heh!!

Take Care...Have Fun!!!

hey steve.

this is my first time posting... i dont read your journal much but when i do i start going through loads of your entries and reading your old ones as well and it just surprises me that you get so little comments compared to dave... i guess people just are not interested in checking but i find your journals to be a lot more interesting and you put more time into it. i do really like dave but if i had to chose between being stuck in a lift with either you or dave, i dont mean to sound corny, but i think there are a lot of things i could talk about with you. well yes thats me praising you.... i tried not to sound lame but probably did end up doing so.

anyway i just have a question.... what was your old job you were talking about "real pie" and talking about editing those garden state videos? so are you still doing that (if not what happened with it) or are you beginning to earn enough money off music?

thanks maybe ill meet you one day, im irish but live in singapore and hope to go to USC in a couple of years study music business or maybe something to do with film.

hey all

steve good job on the TPC site it was well worth the wait and its lived up to every1's expectations!

hope you enjoyed halloween!

hey abby, colleen - where r u!!

much love

Steve,

I just read your comments on Kerry. You do have some valid points, but just wanted to fill in the details on a couple points.
1. Kerry got 1 of his purple hearts for firing a gun and getting a scratch from a tiny piece of shrapnle. His commanding officer wouldn't dignify the wound, since it wasn't even big enough for stiches. He went to the doctors and forced them to treat him (with a band aid) and then got an officer to sign off on a wounded in action for his purple heart. Some hero!

2. By the numbers, his health care plan will still leave 20 million people without health care.

3. He will raise your taxes, and anyone who says that's okay with them is lying. Who wants someone to take away more of their hard earned money?

With all this said. I think the right to vote is a great one. Just vote with knowledge. I hope you and Riss had a good Halloween last night and everyone else too. Good luck working on the songs while you have a break from the studio!

Steve-You did an awesome job on the new web page. Very cool incorporating the Panic Channel with the Ouija Board. I am very much looking forward to seeing you play again and of course TPC Ladies. Take care..... By the way my computer is back from the dead lol!
