October Kismet
Been staying up later and later. Every night since last Wednesday, after Riss goes to sleep, I stay up and work on "Project P". I can't focus on anything else. Everything else is an annoyance, a distraction. Went to bed at 8am this morning and woke up at 4pm. It's 7am and I need to go to sleep. I am afraid that if I stop working, the idea will stop coming. I fear that if I skip even one night, it will all of a sudden end, and the clear pictures that are in my head now will become fuzzy, hard to grasp, and I'l never finish it.
Riss is in NYC with Dave for the week, so I plan on doing nothing but working.
Between the Ouija stories posted, and the book I'm reading, I am still getting freaked out a little bit, in my work room my back is to the door, and I keep seeing shapes out of the corner of my eye...
Have been reworking the first song I wrote for it "C&S" and getting the words right, also working on instrumental sections.
"October kismet, Charlie's Father is out of town..."

Hope you're asleep now!
I know what it's like when the inspiration hits Steve, but don't do yourself in man... give yourself a chance to step out of it and breathe.
(Oh and don't let those ghosties scare ya :))
Peace and love

I agree with Princess V. and I will add one more thing, it's the same quote I gave her, when she was sleepless, and it seems even more apropro(sp) to you, since you admit you are seeing things out of the corner of your eye
"Many fears are borne of loneliness and fatigue"
Desiderata
Anyway, I am an insomniac myself, comes from years of nightmares, and not wanting to go to sleep..
I don't know if I am any more creative after midnight than before, but, that's me. You, Steve, are writing songs and using ouija boards for inspiration, so, you "Go On" with your bad self!!!!

"Critters" is what yer seeing! Worth it to realize the "Project P" and believe me the best time to work starts at 11pm. For me, that is.
Hey, any chance more offerings going up in the video department from the show?

I work way better at night. Maybe it has to do with adrenaline and fear? Who knows?
Or is it excitement?

Damn, things out of the corner of your eye. :D That's called your peripheral vision.
And it's more noticeable with say shadows, because peripheral vision is more Black and White and responds to any slight movement.
I'm such the scientist. :P
Posted by: ylais | October 4, 2004 01:39 PM
LMAO!!! I too stay up waaaaay too late and always see things out the corner of my eyes. Then I try to figure out what they are...sometimes its just something lame like the shadow of my eyelashes! LOL I find that I am generally more creative in the wee hours, its quiet, no one walks in to bother you, generally no phone ringing, I love it! When it gets to be about the time that my bf should be getting up, I try to go to bed....but hardly ever fall asleep... No nightmares usually, but I do have many many vivid and odd dreams everynight!

You know the weird thing about the peripheral vision? The rods that a photosensitive are concentrated at the edge of your eye..and they don't see colour. But they are extremely light sensitive, So you could see something in your peripheral vision; but then when you turn and look at it, it disappears!

YES!!! That's what's soooo creepy! You see it then its gone....spirits...lol

Wow I’m a night owl too. And when I’m on a mission I can’t sleep at all because I must get whatever it is I’m working on done (well maybe that’s just my compulsive side). I disagree with the rest about stopping, I say continue on until you’re done and don’t loose the inspiration after all there will be plenty of sleep when you’re dead. (that’s what my aunt always tells me cause I’m a lazy ass and I love to over sleep) Plus it’s gonna nag you until you’re done so you should just get it done and over with and then get all the rest you need. It’s a good thing you have the luxury of working on things at whatever hour you’re most inspired; for most like myself, if I pull an all-nighter I have to pay for it the next day at work.
“Insomniac #3 here, I also suffer from terrible nightmares STILL I'm 29 and someone is always trying to kill me in my bed "”
Colleen for me it’s mostly sagas. I haven’t had a nightmare in a long time but for some reason the majority of my dreams are either really bizarre or involve an intricate end of the world struggle between good and evil. So if I was using my dreams as a movie script, I would have a range of stories from Lord of the Rings to the fight club. It’s totally strange sometimes I’m ultra aware that I’m dreaming and I can manipulate my dreams. I’ve been meaning to have a notebook next to my bed so I can start jotting some of these things down.
At the ripe age of 26 I’m still a big scary cat though :( Don’t laugh guys but I still have to sleep with some light on and I hate entering dark rooms or hallways or other scary things. I forgot where we were at last year I think it was some type of forest but it was totally scary. I made one of my friends walk in front of me and the other behind, then the punks started running. Rrr. I sometimes feel like a 5 year old.

I hear Vin Diesel talking "are you afraid of the dark"
It's true wendy, I love staying up all night, it's the only time I can get everything done, I am not a morning person, which sucks, cause school starts at 8!!!
So, I struggle through most of the week on 3 or 4 hours, but by the weekend, i am so burnt, anyway, back to the focus...
STEVE!!!!!!Boo!!!, whatcha' doin'? sleeping?

4:15am....you still up Steve??? LOL ;) Well I am! Unfortunately not being very productive, but hey, if I stare at this job application long enough it will eventually fill itself out right??? LOL Hopefully if you are up, you are creating some genius work for The Panic Channel...have fun !! ;)

Get some sleep Steve! you're hyper active..lol
Would you, by any chances, post one day the lyrics of the album "Ones & Zeros"?? as well as some stories behind this album? (as we're getting at the moment with the genesis of TpC, which is really cool).
For some personal reasons, I'm sad today...And "Figure 8" is the perfect soudtrack to go with this horrible day...
Thanx Steve..

Steve-I hope your doing well. Man, you need to get some sleep, you were still up at 5:25 am. I start to have a cognitive breakdown if I stay up after two days straight. It's like my mind just falls apart. I mean...are you writing a Panic Channel Symphony here lol? Just be safe and get some sleep!

I sleep with the light on as well, or in the day, or with the tv on.
I figure hey Einstein was wacky with his sleep too. :D
When I get going on something, I'm the same way...got to keep going...
Did you know that if the Planchette on a Ouija Board makes the figure 8 it means the spirit you are talking to is evil?
I have a strange hang up on 8. I don't know why. Maybe I read something like that somewhere.
Posted by: ylais | October 5, 2004 01:34 PM
I am not making sense. I meant maybe I read something about 8 a long time ago, and it's made me hung up on 8. :P
Posted by: ylais | October 5, 2004 01:35 PM
Steve-Ok, you have been burning the midnight candle staying up late at night working like crazy. I have to ask you this...... Are you using the Ouija, the past few late nights for "Project P?"

off topic here, but is anyone else offended by the GGG thing?

Steve~I'm asking that over here because this is the safe place. Thanks for making it like that. xxxx Lisa

Lisa what is the GGG thing??? I missed it...
Posted by: Abby | October 5, 2004 06:28 PM
Some guy on 6767, wrote about DN appearing on the Howard Stern show, and Carmen's call, and said something like, right on Carmen is GGG.
I was clueless. So I asked what it meant, and the reply was for a great sexual relationship you have to be Good, Giving and Game. boys or girls.
I just felt like going on a rant about that, partly that is from past experiences with people with that attitude.
As far as people and their own choices, the old consenting adult thing, fine.
And Howard Stern, I think is hilarious, and take it as joking around.
Love Lisa

Lisa,
Seems pretty fine to me - GGG apparently is "Good, Giving, and Game" in reference to a good sexual relationship. Don't see the offensive angle on it...
If both people are "GGG" the match seems pretty good.
Brett,
No, not yet. Riss made me promise not to use it in the house, but I am tempted every night. And I wasn't up for two days, just up at 2pm yesterday... We'll see about the symphony thing, I really don't know what it's going to be yet... but it's going to be ... big.
Freak,
Sorry to hear you are having a bad one - I feel for you, mate. Since there is a theme of "8" and you asked about "Figure 8" and song lyrics, when I post again, I'l give you the whole story behind that song. Hang in there. Life always gets better, after it seems like it won't, and when things are hard, that's when you are growing and getting ready for better experiences, it's just feels shitty when it's actually happening.

"No, not yet. Riss made me promise not to use it in the house, but I am tempted every night."
Don't do it Steve. If you must Riss is right do it somewhere else but don't do it at home.
Posted by: wendybird | October 5, 2004 07:30 PM
I know it's okay if both people are consenting, but I've also come across people using language like that to, hmm, how to put this, well try to talk you into doing things you don't want to do. Again, I did say my own experience. It sounds to me like something people can use to their own benefit. Some people I've met are very clever and cunning that way. I didn't mean it nasty to the person who said it at all.
Being GGG is like being pressured to be with the "in crowd".
Like two people can be good and giving which to me is a good relationship, but being game can cause a lot of problems. How many people are game for anything for instance? And both being game for the same thing sometimes, well it's not necessarily going to happen even with the most liberal people. Okay, I'm getting rather deep into the subject now, so I'll stop right there.
Eeek! Lisa xxxx
And assuming stuff about DN and CE based on a Howard Stern interview is well, Howard jokes a lot, and Dave says he likes to shock people with his answers.
I'll ask Dave anyway, when he gets time on his blog. I may be taking the "game" part of it too literally. Culture barrier there maybe?
Posted by: ylais | October 5, 2004 08:59 PM
I dunno maybe I’m missing something. If you are having sex with someone typically you trust or like that person (I know that’s not always the case) and I would hope that they wouldn’t try to manipulate you into something you are not ready for but I do agree that in order to explore more pleasurable possibilities and reach hire realms you need to leave your inhibitions outside and try some new things (be game). I think this is where men and women differ the most. Most men can easily separate things in the “bedroom”, when they are there they are there on a mission of pleasure and don’t really stop to analyze or scrutinize every single detail of what they are doing. If it feels good it must be good at least this is what I’ve been told by my male friends). The majority of women I think bring their inhibitions into the “bedroom” which in turn limits the amount of satisfaction that they can receive. As we get older (women) we start to let go of most of our hang-ups and really start to enjoy sex and be game. (There is however plenty of exceptions to the rule and on a side note Mother Nature sure played a cruel joke on us females) I think this part of the reason sex in the city was so successful. Anyhow, this is the reason why one of my guy pals typically goes for older women. I really don’t see a negative thing to the GGG as long as it works both ways. But being a woman I can definitely say that I say no to the golden showers I just plain don’t get it.
Anyhow it’s late so I’m probably looking at this the wrong way. Must go home now.
Posted by: wendybird | October 5, 2004 09:57 PM
I'm with you, wendy
I am a triple g, but golden showers....oncet again ( in the words of Tommy from Steve Harvey)
eeeeeewwwwww,
but, you know, I say that now, when I love you, I love you, warts, golden showers, and all...
STEVE!!! Thanks for the encouraging words, even though they were directed towards FreAk, they helped me as well, and thanks to all my girls, and some of my men, for helping me see through the tunnel of despair that was Tuesday...
now, everyone, back to work, Steve, this doesn't mean YOU...step away from the weegee...

Man, it looks as if I may have to talk a bit about what people have tried to drag me into sexually using those kind of terms. GGG with my partner, yes. But sure if I am really uncomfortable I would say no. That's all to me been stuff that's been said over and over.. remember.Dr. Ruth? :D If being game means being open to new experiences with your partner and being able safely to say no, then of course I'm game.
But imagine if you will, being involved with a man who constantly is trying to talk you into sleeping with other people, say do threesomes, or to watch you with another woman, and uses that sort of GGG stuff to pressure you. It gets bad then.
Okay, that means basically he's Game, and not Good or Giving to his partner I suppose. Or he just without asking you, or even telling you, goes ahead, and does stuff? So I am not down with the game thing.
Open to new experiences, yes. But then I've had plenty of life experiences already, and I guess maybe it kind of bores me too. :S
Okey dokey, I'm off, got a guitar lesson. :)
Steve, if I have overstepped or am overstepping any boundaries on here by yapping about this, let me know, please.
Love
Lisa

I'm with Wendy and Steve on this one. Whilst I abhor anyone trying to pressure anyone into doing something they don't want, I'm sure the GGG thing is meant as a way to keep a sexual relationship good and interesting (doesn't mean you have to have golden showers though!)
Love to all

I am with Lisa on the GGG thing, good and giving is fine, but game is short for "Game for anything" Whether you like it or not.
Obviously in a relationship people will try many things but I am sure that there comes a time where one of the partners feels uncomfortable with a certain act so just because they have said they are game does that mean that they have to do it, or feel pressured into doing it just to stay cool.
Maybe I am taking the word "game" to literal here.
To me, being game for anything is a very foolish attitude to take in life, and can lead a person to situations that will be regretted.

Question: If you won't let your partner pee on you, then how are you game?
I once called someone's bluff with that, I said go ahead, and they didn't have the guts to do it. :D

Steve-Good morning. Jezzi and the Panic Channel Ladies hello!)I hope all is well. The weather here is San Diego is changing, it's cloudy and overcast today, kinda cool out. I agree you about living in Cali, I always miss the rain and snow sometimes (I'm from the East Coast). Anyway, I am glad you have been working like crazy on Project "P." So have you just been writing choruses, riffs, alot of lyrics, or have you started messing around with your pedals? I always feel like theres such a different element with another guitarist, bass player and a drummer. I have only jammed with a few people so I can only imagine what it's like for you. I sometimes get bored recording stuff into my 4-track becuase it just sounds so plain. Like, I have to constantly be strumming to take up space and time. I am sure that the guys will add something totally unique to your concept. I'm taking a long overdue vacation this week. I will try and check back in over the weekend. Thanks for responding to my question. I wasn't expecting a comment from you, but it was a pleasant surprise. Be safe and be well!

Wendy! Thank you...thank you for your advice to Steve. The Ouija board may be marketed as a toy but for those of us who know the Occult...it is far from that. I just have had bad experiences with things of that nature in my past and do not want that in our home.
Also...for the discussion on the GGG....note that Dave is very much a jokester and although he may say things from time to time....he is very in love with his wife and would never put her in any type of situation that would make her uncomfortable. And contrary to Howard's belief....Dave was in the bathroom to get himself together before he stepped into the studio (it was an early morning and a late flight the night before)....had he used the facilities...he would have washed his hands.
Posted by: Riss | October 6, 2004 10:15 AM
No need to thank me Riss, like I mentioned earlier I totally believe that the Ouija board is plain evil. I used to “play” with it when I was younger and enough freaky stuff happened to me that made me swear never to touch it again. But I understand a thing or two about temptation which is why I said if he must do it he should do it somewhere else. Even if it isn’t evil the mind is a very powerful instrument and just knowing that others believe its evil could mess with it.
As far as Dave is concerned, I totally get that he’s a jokester and that he and Carmen have a great loving relationship. I think anyone that’s caught a little of the Camp Freddy radio or has read his blog can easily tell what kind of person Dave is.
Hope you are having a great time in New York.
Posted by: wendybird | October 6, 2004 10:51 AM
Thanks Riss, for giving us the lowdown on the Howard Stern show.
Actually none of what I read on Howard's site about the show offended me, and I used to listen to him when I lived in the USA, so I knew he was kidding around.
I also know Dave likes to joke about as well. Both Dave and Howard seem to have great relationships with their spouses.
The GGG thing was because someone stopped by the 6767 site and said wahey Carmen is GGG. It wasn't in relation to Dave or Howard really.
Anyway, thanks again for telling us about it.
Love Lisa

Hey Steve,
Just wanted to wish you well in your new musical chemistry experiment...As a die-hard Janes fan I wanted to tell you that I have accepted their decision to call it quits and I am dying to experience soundwaves from this new entity... You have worked your way into a fantastic situation to be creating with that lot, so I am to assume you deserve it...Looking forward to a new vision...Give the other guys my love and support from Boston and anything I can do here to get the word out just let me know...Oh yeah, I was so happy to learn you have been listening to Jeff Buckley for inspiration, such a huge loss to music and life, so great to hear of his ghost moving others creatively. Later.
