We Move On
Ok, we move on... I was a bit tripped out when I thought that the robbery was connected to someone posting my address online on the same day, and it being a malicious act instead of a random one. Went to Xiola and dropped an olive branch on their doorstep. Didn't mean to label the whole community as "haters", just came out that way in the moment. Plus, I just despise the word "haters" ..it rings of Fred Durst.
Also in the melee, I checked out www.determinedmoth.org - nice site -good design, and the English humour in the forum is refreshing. Cheers.
On to more positive things...
Go see the Incredibles: No matter what you think of animated films, or CG as a medium, go see this thing, it's really very funny, and the design of the movie is insane. Very very highly recommended. I am predisposed to this kind of subject matter (Superheroes), but it really is a movie for anyone. All the Pixar films are great, but this one is decidedly more adult.
The Surreal Life last show: Yes, this guilty pleasure was part of my Sunday night for the past few weeks, and while it was a complete waste of time, I culled these tiny few bits of new information from the series:
1. Brigitte Nielsen taught me that to be "European" is to be drunk from the time you wake up until you pass out, mid-afternoon.
2. Dave Coulier is still alive.
3. Ryan Starr is a little twat.
4. Jordan Knight made a total ass of himself. If you are going to sign up for a "celebrities living together" reality show, at least DO IT, don't show up and act all "tortured artist" about it... please. Winner of least cool human being, 2004.
5. Flavor Flav RULES! ...Who knew?
In the midst of all this drama at home this weekend, the inclination is to go with the flow and get swept up in it. Better to look for what is positive in the immediate future:
1. The new episode of The Biggest Loser is on on Tuesday.
2. The new Wes Anderson movie, "The Life Aquatic" is coming out soon.
3. Riss and I have tickets to Muse at the Wiltern in December.
4. They didn't steal my iPod.
5. QueensOTSA have a new record coming out in March.
6. George Bush didn't win.
(oh hell, he did win. scratch that one, we're fucked)

Concentrating on the small but important things gets me through the week.

Steve nice to see that both you and Riss moved on. Although it blows I guess everything happens for a reason.
And I guess in another life time I was European. :D I sure miss those times.

Steve - Love you, love your humor!!! Can't wait to see the Incredibles - Not sure if anyone else watches it or not but I LOVE Desperate Housewives. It's on Sunday nights at 8 cst. It's really funny and a breath of fresh air from the reality and crime shows I'm addicted to. I've found a new addiction too - MESSAGE BOARDS

I just want to say thank you for the outpouring of love from everyone. We couldn't have gotten through the weekend without it. Much love to all of the Panic Channel Family.

Just wanted to say that my heart is with you guys. I am happy to see that you two have a bright outlook on this situation. I was robbed at gunpoint in front of my apartment in L.A. Crazy experience. But now I am just more careful and have learned a little something in this game of life. I hope you have a wonderful week and look forward to the show next week.

Steve & Riss-
I am sorry to hear about what happened! I am totally bummed out! My computer was off line this morning, and I only post at work so I just found out today. I just wanted to say that I am glad you and Riss are safe/alright. Your post about it just floored me. At least they didn't get your guitar gear becuase, I was ready to donate my guitar equipment to you in a heart beat if you needed anything. You have always got my support. I just hope the "Karma Police" are coming for who-ever did that. Be safe and be well!!!!

Steve,
I'm glad to hear that you and Riss are doing ok. It is great that they didn't take your guitar and amp or your iPod. With your computer being stolen, will we all need to rejoin the Panic Channel mailing list or is all of that information stored somewhere else?
Did you see the lineup for the next season of the Surreal Life? Here's what I saw on VH1.com: America's Next Top Model Adrianne Curry, Da Brat, former pro wrestler Chyna Doll, model Marcus Schenkenberg, Jane Wiedlin from The Go-Go's, Christopher Knight (AKA Peter Brady) and Verne Troyer (AKA Mini-Me).
Take care,
Eric

Reckless P ~ thanks :) all these people looking at the strip... I'll have to work at actually making it funny now!
Steve ~ forgot in the last post, RE: Ryan Starr. Totally with you. I watched just PRAYING someone would lose it with her pompous, ignorant ass and start beating her about the head and shoulders with a large frozen mackrel. Or Jordan Knight's sense of self-importance, whichever is denser.

Steve and Riss, you have my heart, however ill placed it can be sometimes, I remember my mom saying, the road to hell is paved with good intentions, and never was it more true than this weekend...I vow right here and now to install control alt delete button on my mouth and hands, and to install breathalyzer on my pc, no posting when level is .08 or above...
so...on to things, about the Dragonfly, can we get on a list, if we answer the trivia question of your choice, something about Reality tv, yeah, a reality tv quiz...
love to you and yours

these questions may have been asked before, but i've been busy with a term paper, so i have been out of the loop. anyone with any info, feel free to clue me in!
will the show at the Dragonfly be like last time? do we just show up and stand in line to get in? or are there going to be tickets? what time do you guys go on?
thanks!
Posted by: SnoWhite | November 8, 2004 04:16 PM
Please no reality TV questions, I'll be doomed. Being on the internet all the time, working full time, going to concerts, dealing with my mom and doing other things doesn't leave me with time to watch reality TV. Plus it doesn’t help that because I’m so irresponsible I haven’t had cable for like 8 months. The only time I watch cable is when I’m at my friend’s house.
Posted by: wendybird | November 8, 2004 05:22 PM
Well if you must you must and they said watching TV doesn’t pay off.

so, i saw Enternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind yesterday. i can say, only now that it's over, that i liked it. when it first started, i wasn't really "feeling" it. but as things began to come together, and start to make sense, i really got into it. it sort of reminded me of Memento, which i loved. it's like, at first, you don't know what's really happening. but it all comes together in the end. did you see this movie Steve? what's your opinion? anyone seen I
so i don't know if anyone's seen this yet. it's pretty fucking genius in my opinion. i heard about it on CNN. the guy on the first page started this. check out the gallery and don't forget the FAQ's. fucking great.

i love it. really. just genius. i know you've all got your cameras out now, with your pad and paper, ready to send in your apologies! i know i do.

Steve...LOL!
We don't get the Surreal Life until like at leat 6 months after you guys up here in Canada and I can't wait for the new one to come on it has always been a guilty pleasure of mine too. I still think the first one with Vince Neil was much better than the second season.
Posted by: Pinhead | November 9, 2004 09:42 AM
Hi Steve & fans,
First of all, I'm so sorry to hear about the robbery. You're right: the important thing is that neither of you were harmed. We love you guys :)
Moving on to the entertainment...
Did you watch the new Bands Reunited episodes? Last nite was Scandal and I think tomorrow and the day after are Vixen and Information Society. Scandal was good and it was so cute seeing Johnny Mc- McEnroe in the crowd cheering on his sassy wife, Patti Smythe. Ameer is being more bad-ass...busting into live shows with the all-important BR requests :)
I, too, am very excited for The Life Acquatic! Wes Anderson is my favorite director so I am dying in anticipation, as well. Bill Murray was the same, if not funnier in Rushmore, than he was in Lost in Translation, n'est-ce pas?
I'm going to see MUSE tonight with The Zutons, who also rock bigtime, at Webster Hall in NYC. I'll be back with a full report tomorrow!
On the Surreal Life, I can't thank you enough for pointing out that Ryan Starr, is in fact, a "twat". I think "Mr. F" (as Gitte calls Flav) made an excellent observation about her. She is really snotty considering she LOST american idol & wasn't anywhere near the final round. she was just the hot slutty one. (although TSL prooves that theory wrong- though anyone who would reject Flav or Jordan is probably of sound mind anyway, so who's to judge?!) But I digress.
In the wake of her loss, kelly clarkson has already recorded 3 albums. 2 studio, 1 christmas. i could be wrong with my tallying, but that's pretty damn good! i'm a total sucker for her new song, "breakaway". i had no idea it was her. i thought it was a newbie influenced by the likes of sarah mclachlan-shawn colvin. anyhow, ryan is like the spoiled little sister on the surreal life. always whining and carrying on.
Also, other cool notice. I just got into Jeff Buckley, so I'm glad you dig "Grace", too! I just went to the NY screening of Jeff Buckley: Amazing Grace...this excellent documentary on his life, including interviews he shot himself, along with memories by the likes of Chris Cornell, David Fricke of R. Stone and yes, even, Sebastian Bach!!! but, it was really touching and meeting jeff's mother, mary, and the filmmakers was such a delight. they're trying to get the film to sundance, so i really hope they do!!
well, that's all for now. hope you are all doing well.

Jeff Buckley, oh what a loss to music. He sang like and Angel and he was a hell of a guitar player. I went to Memphis and when I saw the Mississippi River I was just bummed out. One of my biggest regrets was missing him play at the Trade Winds in New Jersey with Juliana Hatfield. I missed it becuase my old girl friend and I got into a huge fight that night and we didn't go. The crazy thing is, is that Jeff Buckley I heard, staged dived into the crowd and lost his wallet. Somebody out there has Jeff's driver's license.

Hey Steve and Riss,
I'm so sorry to hear about the robbery! It really makes me mad when bad things happen to good people. I think you all have a great outlook on the whole thing though. Hopefully over time all can be recovered, and like you said, all they got were material things. And hey it's all about karma, what comes around and all. Glad to hear that the Incredibles was good. I love Pixar and wasn't too sure about this one, but will go see it now. To the family, I think it's awesome that you give so much support. If you all need anything just let all of us know. It's amazing what can be done in large groups.

Steve-I hope the rehearsal went well today with the guys. I'm thanking the "Rock and Roll God's/Power's That Be" that your amp and gear were spared. Somebody/something was looking out for you on that. Have a great night........

i'm so stoked!

Sarah, you go girl...I am desperately looking for credit card that is not maxed...
Ellen!! I LOVE Jeff Buckley's version of Leonard Cohen's Hallelujah..the first time I heard it was Shrek, the second time was on West Wing, that heartbreaking scene where C.J. finds out Simon Donovan has been killed, I'm such a putz, that song makes me cry EVERY time...
STEVE!!! so,as Panic Agent Impatient, I am wondering, is there going to be a special password, a secret handshake. and what about those STICKERS?

MUSE were IN-(insert explitive)-CREDIBLE last night at Webster Hall. GOOD GOD. I swear, their CD is NOTHING compared to their live show. I was literally blown away and the crowd was so into it, it made me feel that much more connected to the music. I really can't describe it properly, but do yourself a favor & see them if you are lucky enough to have the opportunity.
If anyone out there, slightly likes them or thinks they're ok: SEE THEM LIVE. YOU WON'T BELIEVE YOUR SENSES!
---
As for Jeff Buckley, man, he was one HELLUVA talent. I sadly only knew the song "Last Goodbye" because it was out when I was in like 5th or 6th grade and used to follow my sister around and listen to her music (back when popular music was GOOD or I guess more appropriately, the youth of America were into good alternative music). But, then I recognized his cover of "Hallejulah" as well, sadly probably from a sad episode of "Friends" or something haha...and I am so glad I bought "Grace" finally and saw the documentary. They actually just released an expanded edition of Grace, including unreleased songs and a DVD of interviews and whatnot.
Anyway, Jeff's mom, Mary, is probably the sweetest, coolest lady I've ever met. I just think it's so incredible how she keeps up with all of Jeff's fans (thank Mary for the expanded edition of "Grace") and really was so commited to helping the filmmakers get their movie made.
I just hope more people will get to see the film and become exposed to Jeff's music.
There is actually a humorous part of the documentary. Sebastian Bach is interviewed about Jeff's music & life. He & Skid Row covered "Eternal Life" and there is a funny montage of Jeff vs. Sebastian singing it. It really is monumental how artists can reach people of all different tastes and styles.

I really like Ryan Starr. Shes a beautiful, sexy, talented young star who is still finding her way in the music world. Her new single "My Religion" on iTunes is a genuinly good rock song. Even if you hate her at least sample it on iTunes its really good. But anyway take it easy on Ryan Starr, I think shes really talented.
Regards,
Dave
