Half Holy

face_close_iconLast day of tracking on the album until February. I thought Gummo and I were working tomorrow, but he called me at 12 noon and asked when I could come over, so enough of that relaxipating shit, time to sing! I only had 2 clear things on my list - wanted to re-sing the verses to "Unholy Ghost" because they were some of the first leads I had sung, and over time, they sounded low on energy compared to some of the other tunes, and the chorus harmony on Half Hearted. It started raining on the way over to Gummo's house, and as you know I love it when it rains in Los Angeles, so the mood was right on for singing. We spent an hour or so talking about the record, and plans for next year, and after I warmed up for a bit, we got to work. Left there around 8:30pm, and all we have left is one day to rough mix the songs tomorrow. Dave and Chris are away for the holidays, so I am going over to the mixing studio tomorrow (not sure if Perk can make it or not), to keep an eye on things. These aren't final mixes, but they will hold us until we go back into the studio in February to finish up tracking the record. Presumably, the tracking is done on these first 7. I am really interested to hear how all the songs sound with all the harmony parts Dave and I laid on them last week.

Started thinking about record titles, going with the eponymous thing, etc. I have some ideas. Dunno if I like the "1st album named after the band" thing. It's good for when there are a collection of albums and you know which one was the first one easily, but also sacrifices the possibility of giving this group of songs their own name and identity.

No plans for New Year's. If cash was not an issue, Riss and I would get on a plane to Vegas to ring in 2005. I love to be out there for New Year's. It's insane, and that's a good thing. Done the Vegas New Year's thing twice. Good times. If we can't pull it off though, I'll live. I am singing with Camp Freddy for a show they have on Jan. 5th anyway, so I will be out there soon enough.

Ok, Riss' brother Rudy gave me a DVD of "Clash of the Titans", so we're gonna go RELEASE THE KRAKEN!

Clash of the titans rocks!! The medusa part scared me when i first saw it. SO long ago.

btw if you want to see a really entertaining movie....see "Shaun of the dead" very funny, a little slow moving toward the very end, but still worth seeing. M

Love the Bloody Mary video on TPC site- its great!

How about you get people on 6767 and this site to suggest album titles then maybe you will get soomething more interesting than the album just being self-titled.

How many songs are going to be on the album?

Love always,
Georgina

I have a suggestion for the album title-how about "Lyn"? I think it's perfect. Or, "Greatest Hits- The Box Set!", or "WTPC", all Panic Channel, all the time. "Ashes" is killer too. Or, maybe even a series: 1st album-"Birth", second-"Growth", third-"Fun", fourth-"Age", or something similar. But, after careful consideration, "Lyn" is still the best I can think of :)
Peace!

PMSL!

:)

Vic

Steve,

Have you seen "Mayor of the Sunset Strip"? Curious what your thoughts are since Rodney is in your backyard there.

Cheers,

Mike C. (FLA)

Is "We know who you are" too obvious?

dude, don't go eponymous with the title. bad move.

Don't do a 1 word title either. Make it 2 or 3. Something that expresses what these songs are about. how are they cohesive?

Just like you made the Panic Channel mean something grand, do the same with the album title.

and if all else fails, just steal. Call it CHINESE DEMOCRACY. your album will be out before his.

How about 'Jane's Addiction without the creativity'?

Can't wait to hear more songs. Any plans to post additional files to the TPC site? Also, will you guys actually make some production videos prior to signing? Obviously, an expensive thing.

Steve,

I had forgotten how addicted I was to your updates!! I love this journal of musical evolution...As far as the album title..I like the eponymous feel of the first album being called simply The Panic Channel, every song on your first album will always have its own identity by virtue of being on your first, you know....

Of course, you could always title it Punish Me, after your first song at your first gig.....

just a thought, I haven't had my coffee,
love to you and Riss,
jezzi

Steve- Glad things went well with Dave! I kind of agree with you, and the others as per not naming the record after the band's name. It's too common and I think it takes away from something. So, I guess you guys are looking for something dark, unique, something that leaves the interpretation up to the listener? I thought about a few names for the title, kept writing them down, but I thought this one was pretty cool. Here is a "Title" that kept my attention............

The Panic Channel
"Sonic Mediums" -ingenious, no?

Brett

^No, Brett, not ingenious, that is, unless it's "Lyn's Sonic Mediums"-Now THAT'S brilliant :)

An eponymous title.. how about Panic Lane? nah, that's too Beatlesy.
Guillotine? That one's probably already been done.
Mae West (an inflatable life preserver and also the name of a sultry actress of the 30s and 40s)?
Pasteurized Listeria?
Bougainvillea? Such a crazy spelling for such pretty plant.
Casimir Effect (the attractive force between two surfaces in a vacuum; ie a force coming from nothing)?

Tesla effect (had to add that one, Nikola Tesla is a distant relative of mine on my dad's side).
Blessed Carnage?

haha, sorry got a little carried away there
I'm sure Steve can come up with better ones.

Brett- good one, Sonic Medium me like!

Lyn- I see where your going on this so how about.........

The Panic Channel
"Project Lyn" -Now that sounds like a killer concept album LOL!!!!! ;) Brilliant, yes?

Brett

.... or maybe simply "Paranormal"?
Parapsychology?
Instrumental Trans-communication?
Ectoplasm?
Automatic Writing? (a spirit controlling a medium's arms to write)
Apparition?
Ouija Effect?

"Lyn- I see where your going on this so how about.........
The Panic Channel
"Project Lyn" -Now that sounds like a killer concept album LOL!!!!! ;) Brilliant, yes?"
YES!!! THAT'S WHAT I'M TALKIN BOUT!! The tracks should actually be changed to 1-Lyn1, 2-Lyn2, etc...that's a joke. But seriously, yea, all capital letters, big ass bold print, black background, white letters, gothic look. PC-LYN!

^umm, that's T.P.C.-LYN! (First tour could even be named something like, umm, THE LYN TOUR! or something)

Lyn,

They could have a huge white glowing neon sign/symbol that reads "LYN" right above Perk's drum set that blinks on and off, with cool lights randomly!!!!!!! Just like, but better than the Van Halen's VH symbol!!!!! So I have an idea here Lyn, TPC already has guitar techs, so both you and I are screwed, but what about "Stage Managers!' They need Stage managers!!!! We could go nuts, blow any of the Pink Floyd stage shows out of the water LMFAO!!!!!!!! We could make the stage all dark and gothic, have some nice lighting effects, camera angles, shit, I am talking about camera angles here bro!!! LOL! Have beautiful gothed out ballerinas dancing around in all black with make-up smeared doing pirouette's!!!!! & when their done they could run up to Dave and light his cigarette!! Now that's fucking cool LOL!!!!!

Lyn- we need to get on this so have your people call my people LOL!!!!!

Brett

Now, that's my boy thinking!Oh, and like, in the middle of the ballarina sequence, you and I switch with two of them, you and I run up and light Dave's cig, and then we pull our wigs off, stunning the crowd in all our splendor!! Dude, I'm so there. I'll send a fax to your voice message-you text message me to my pager, I'll respond via Ipod. Fuck Yeah!

Lyn-

"and then we pull our wigs off, stunning the crowd in all our splendor!!" talk about shock value!!

Then we could stage dive into the crowd, so like were working on the clock you know for TPC, but we can still see the show from the crowd. Total win/win situation there!!!! LMFAO!!!!!

Brett

Just wanted to say hello to Steve and that I really liked the Panic Channel christmas present. TPC for life!
