What I've Done is...
This afternoon, before heading to the studio, I got two good surprises:
It was sprinkling, and we all know how I love the wet weather...
...and my new Mesa Boogie Dual Rectifier amp was delivered! Yes, in all it's deep indigo blue fury, it came from the delivery truck into my hot little hands, then off to the studio. Damn it's pretty.
Then in the studio...
Dave got most of his rhythm guitars done on the three new tracks. No solos yet. He used his white PRS, Phil Hutson's red Telecaster, John Shanks' crazy old and uber-valuable Stratocaster ( I don't even what to know what that thing is worth), and some weird guitar I've never heard of called an L5. I worked at the end of the day when he was done on my "Awake" tracks. We ate Indian food at dinner break and watched "Some Kind of Monster"...again.
Tom, who works for the studio and is of great help in the control room, copied me a bunch of great live Mars Volta footage. This week they announced their L.A. date at the Greek Theatre in June. Am I going? Don't ask silly questions.
Tomorrow Dave and I are doing Camp Freddy radio and playing "Blue Bruises" acoustic. I copied some of my favorite songs and hope to play a few for the show.
My buddy Dan called and said that "The Ring Two" is a piece of shit. I was pretty excited to see it, but now am doubtful. Has anyone seen it yet? Let me know what you think...

Congrats on the new amp Bro! Hope the journey to find that perfect tone is over. Can't wait to hear "Blue Bruises" tonight! Godspeed in the coming weeks to wrap.

We know -- we know about you and the weather. But my golf is spoiled again!!! I will have to start doing an anti-Isaacs "sun dance" soon.

So you did win???
I saw the ring two, but since I haven't seen a movie in ages I thought it was pretty good. There was one point where I screamed very loud but I'm a big wuz... some of it was pretty cheesy you might want to wait for the video.
Did I mention I didn't see the ring 1?

I forgot the woooohoooo!!!!

Sorry Steve, but I think Dan was right. The redeeming bit about the flick is Naomi Watts. She is easy on the eyes.
Steve, didn't you have Muse:Absolution on your "What I'm Listening To" section a while back? Picked it up on a whim (Showbiz was OK) and its quite good. I just can't remember the catalyst for wanting to pick it up. Oh well.
Enjoy CF Radio tonight, I'll be listening/representing the East Coast as usual.

Sup Steve,
Great talking to on CFR!! I hope I didn't get you in any trouble with T.K cuz of my language!
I didn't get to here the whole thing on the air cuz the feed on my computer cut out so I don't know if I was edited out or not. But I hope to catch it on re-runs tommorow or something so don't cut me out.
cheers,
Ryan

Thanks for the updates Steve. The "real time" stuff is very interesting and it's cool to get a glimpse of what you guys are doing in the studio, the inspirations for it and the equipment doing it. Keep them coming if you can! Thanks again.

Great job co-hosting CRF! Blue Bruises was nothing short of AMAZING! Any chances of a limited edition TPC unplugged? =)

Hey, you awake? Can't sleep either. My hubby is out of town and I can't sleep. I could use some stories of entertainment about recording if you're up and bored

Yeah "Blue Bruises" sounded great!!

Steve,
Failure! I thought I was the only person in the world who knew how great this band is. When I heard you touting them on CFR I couldnt believe it. I found Magnified in a 99 cent bin, had no idea who they were but just bought it, and couldnt believe how soething this good could be so obscure. Glad to know it's not just me who is wondering.
Blues Bruises is a great song. Can't wait for the CD to come out.
Good luck,
Rich

Just heard "Blue Bruises" now -- 2 days late because of priorities (evening dog walk). Very good -- definitely will rank high in my list. Like the emotion in your voice -- the content suits your sound.

Hi Steve. Howard Hallis here.
I liked The Ring 2. It had the original cast from the first movie and some creepy parts. I think I'm in the minority though, so you might want to go with Dan on this one and wait for the rental. The key to enoying horror movie sequels is two words: "LOW EXPECTATIONS".
By the way, I just put my first comic book online:

Hope you like it.
Keep on rockin' , Spooky!

Steve I hope you are luvin the rain cause I'm not. I hate driving with all the bad drivers...RRRrrrr

Hi Steve,
Blue Bruises is tremendous! Cannot wait for the album. Been playing the Dragonfly show repeatedly for a while now - genius. On the matter of Ring 2, or even "The" Ring, I would advise to check out the Japanese originals, they are truly creepy and less "Hollywood". There are a couple of other Ring sequals too but I haven't got around to ordering them.
Battle Royal is another class Japanese film about the worst behaved class in the country being transported to an island and entered into a "game" where they must all kill one another and the last one surviving gets his/her freedom back. Worth checking out.
Take it easy...
