Vegas Show Weekend
(start music shuffle…)
(now playing: Nick Drake “Cello Song”)
I can barely contain my excitement for this weekend, it’s ON…
VEGAS!
This Saturday night Camp Freddy is playing at the Hard Rock Casino for it’s 10th anniversary. Dave and the guys graciously included one of my Camp Freddy numbers, The Cult’s “She Sells Sanctuary”. I sang this with them at the last Key Club show, but Cult guitarist Billy Duffy wasn’t at that show. He will be at this one this weekend, and It'll be great to be doing his band’s song with him. I have always loved the Cult’s “Love” record, and especially that song. Since I am a part of this whole Camp Freddy experience, I kind of luck out and get some perks. The best of which is a ticket to the Nine Inch Nails show on Saturday night (earlier, before CF plays). I have seen NIN twice, but not since the “Pretty Hate Machine” tour.
(now playing: U2 “I Threw a Brick Through a Window”)
Most of us fly out tomorrow, but Riss can’t come out til Saturday. This gives me all Friday night to check out the other thing I am really excited about: the new Wynn Las Vegas casino.
I follow everything Steve Wynn does, and have been keeping tabs on the building of this casino for a couple years. Wynn is a true visionary, and every property he creates seems to alter the idea of casino/resorts and the landscape of the city immeasurably. I read an interview where he had mentioned that his other casinos (Mirage, Treasure Island, Bellagio) all put something really big right on the strip (volcano, pirate show, fountain) in an effort to lure people inside. With Wynn LV, he has reversed this, and built a 130 million dollar mini-mountain blocking the front of the hotel and creating a sort of secluded inner area. I am really curious to see how this is all laid out.
(now playing: Queen “My Best Friend”)
It opens today, so I will be able to investigate it on opening weekend. It’s no secret that I love Las Vegas and take any possible opportunity to get out there. This weekend should be the granddaddy of great Vegas trips. Largely because for once, I don’t have to pay for the plane and the room!
(now playing: Frank Sinatra “I’ve got a Crush on You” – Live at the Sands)
…ahh how appropriate. Sometimes it seems that “shuffle” mode is somehow sentient. Trips me out.

Comments
Hey there, I was thinking of you last night or the night before as I was watching the news about the grand opening. Ha I thought you might have headed off to Vegas a few days earlier for the Grand opening.
It all sounds pretty cool, Free trip to Vegas, new casino, NIN for FREE, and you playing a cult song with Billy Duffy.
Now that’s a weekend! I miss Vegas :(

"Shuffle" owns me and I love your variety. Speaks volumes of you! (I totally wallowed in Queen a few weeks ago with my cousins. My 9 yr old son loved it as much as we did...we ranged from 21 to 47 and all sang and danced together! Sweet!)
Oooh, and I heart Vegas too. My favorite has to be Mandalay Bay. Great vibe! And for free? Well...what could be better?
Have a BLAST! =D!!

Have loads of fun Man! One question though-will the merch have my personal favorite-flannel pajamas? God, I really like those things. I can see the logo on the lapel, or better yet, like on the back of a flannel robe, like one of those Harley jackets. Yes, that's it! Black robe, white lettering, flannel. :)

Nice axe and amp set up you got now. The great thing about new gear is it makes you fall in love with messing around with it all over again.

Have a blast in Vegas dude! That's awesome that you get to do She Sells Sanctuary with Billy this time; hopefully a video clip will turn up on here or at 6767 (hint hint, wink wink, say no more)! :) And I hear the Wynn is incredible, a friend of mine just got back from Vegas a few days ago.
Since you're really into visiting Vegas whenever possible and reading up on the paranormal, I was wondering if you ever had the chance to travel 2-3 hours outside of Vegas over to Area51? If so, anything interesting happen? Just curious, as I'm probably heading out to Vegas in the summer for 4 days and have always had an interest in the paranormal/conspiracy theories....what can I say, I grew up with The X-Files! :)
Have out there Steve!
Peace!

Freak,
I just got Tiger tonite...and it is indeed, the shit! Dashboard and those Widgets are just unreal, it's amazing what's available at an instant these days at high speed connections. The new iChat AV has amazingly better image/sound quality, not to mention being up able to do 3 way chats (4 if you count yourself)! I'm probably missing a few features, still tooling around with it.
I mentioned this to Dave a while ago, and now it's possible.....an online jam using iChat AV. It's got to be an online first...4 people all in different places of the world, watching/listening to eachother creat music at the same time. How awesome would that be? We should try and get something going with that later this month.
Steve, would you be down with an online jam when the time is right?
Peace!
