George Bush Doesn't Care About Black People

Kanye
Wow, check out this video of Kanye West and Mike Myers on a hurricaine Katrina telethon on NBC last night. Mike and Kanye had a segment to urge viewers to dontate, when Kanye went off script to deliver a tirade against Bush. He's obviously nervous, but what balls he's got! He ends the talk with "George Bush doesn't care about Black people" before the segment is cut short. Pretty exciting on the "hyper-uncomfortable live TV moments" scale, and I think it's very bold on Kanye's part. You could debate about using the telethon to air his personal viewpoints, and possibly alienating viewers who might contribute money, or you might think that he said some hard truths that needed to be said. Make up you your own mind.

Well,i'm sure he ain't the only one who has wondered that, whatever the reason, the US government has been very slow to react to the natuaral disaster in New Orleans,i for one am very shocked by the delay in aid. What i'm not shocked by is Bush's flippent way of dealing with this,he does this everytime, and always brings up the subject of terrorism.
One thing though,Kayne seems to have forgotten that there are infact white people who need help in NO too,as well as other people from ethnic origins.

Fact is help is too fucking slow getting to this area.
Just lately, with the regularity of natrual disasters happening all over the world,i feel its the Earth saying"don't take what you have on this planet for granted"

All these wars, religious and racial differences do not mean shit, nature can wipe us all out over night, that simple.

But will world leaders, terrorists and the buisness's or general public learn,of course not.

The whole world must have thought the same as me when they watch the news reports on NO,where the fuck is the help.

i have just gained a new respect for him.

Thank god someone had the balls to step up and PUBLICLY critisize Bush.

i wish more people would start.

Hey Steve, what are the chances of you checking into the CFR chat next week on 6767.com???

New Orleans is one of my very favorite cities. Much like Los Angeles, it has its good and bad people and locations, but it has an energy like no other place I've been.

A native of Southern CA, I was originally introduced to the city, its people and its culture by the works of Anne Rice. Her portrayal of the city and its beauty and history made me want to visit. Once I finally got to, I fell in love.

It breaks my heart to find that our government is doing so little to help the citizens of that area. People are dying as a result of simple neglect - something that should never happen. It's like a case of "too little, too late" in the president's case.

Sorry for the rant.
My thoughts are with the people in the Gulf Coast and their families who have been directly effected by this. Granted, this effects us all, but the impact is felt most heavily by them - so many of them left with only the clothes on their backs.

Sure Bush is an idiot-BUT-think about all the people that are dipping into their pockets to help. People from all backgrounds are contributing. Enough said. :)
Steve-You should do as Simon says, check out the chat sometime. Would be awsome to see you there.
Have a good day everyone!

Sometimes you've just gotta stand up and say what needs to be said. Unfortunatly, those of us here on the West Coast never heard it on TV because NBC edited most of it out. Censorship equates to bull shit.

I agree with Steve L. Kanye West did not help the situation -- anger and bitterness don't add up to crap. Everyone is pointing the finger at everyone else: the mayor at Bush, ex-FEMA people at FEMA, state officials at the Army Corp, and Kanye West at Bush. Screw that. As hard as it is to believe (for me, too), we have to pull ourselves out of this mess and move on. Not easy, for sure. But recovery has absolutely nothing to do with race and casting blame. There's only one way out, and that's to be good Americans and to be good to each other.

That was the most absurd thing I've ever seen. It was very apparent that Kanye had absolutely no idea what he was talking about, mostly because it wasn't true. Now don't get me wrong, I dislike Bush as much as the next guy, but for very different reasons than what the mainstream media feeds us. To say that he doesn't care about black people, though? Lets get real. This was just a very poorly prepared and unreasonable stab at the president, not to mention that it was a very inappropriate time to try to forward his personal agenda while all these people are sick and dying and stranded with little help. I think it was beyond selfish of Kanye to use that segment-airtime that was supposed to be used as means to raise money to help these poor individuals-to try to criticize someone when he literally knows nothing about what he was saying.

Steve~ are you gonna make an appearance at the Camp Freddy gig??? (pleeease!!)

I can't wait to see you when TPC tours Steve!

It didn't take "balls" to criticize Bush - eveyone in the entertainment industry does it everyday. Yes the Fedarl government was slow to react, but what about the State and City governments? Hoe could they allow their city to get to such a point of depravation and economic turmoil? Why was the city not prepared? Why did the city not respond to the poor who needed evacuation? These are the questions that nees examination. It's all right to criticize - but there is a lot to go around - not just to Bush. As for Kayne being some "hero" for waht he said - I think his comments were shallow and showed his lack of understanding for the real issues at hand.

Hey Steve is there something wrong at the TPC board?

You can agree with Kanye West or you can disagree with him, but he was only saying what an awful lot of other people were saying too. The UK news coverage of the New Orleans disaster over the weekend showed lots of angry black refugees saying exactly the same thing, did none of them get shown in the US?

I don't think it's so much that Bush doesn't care about black people-I don't think he cares about ANYONE that's not white, rich, on the political right, or disagrees with the GOP platform in any way or in his heirachy. I fully believe he's an equal opportunity asshole.

Lyn-ya took the words right outta my keyboard.
Bush kinda reminds me of the cop who used to chase the Duke boys around in Dukes Of Hazzard.

Joking aside-why the hell worry about looters,ok,stealing tv's and beer is just stupid, stealing clothes and food is just survival..it ain't like that stuff ain't going to be claimed on insurance anyways.
kinda scary to read that people are shooting at rescue choppers..i know it is a severly desperate situation..but shooting at people trying to help!!!

G.W.B. is a joke, and he's comin to yo town!

Sorry, just thought we needed a little Chuck D and Flav on this subject. Boyeeeeee!

Anything else I might say would be venomous enough to get the Patriot Monsters up in arms!

Thanks for the link Steve!

I agree with Kanye west though. I think he was just saying what everyone was thinking but was too afraid to say it. Kanye West has balls. However, I think he just kissed his career goodbye.

Steve have I mentioned lately how peachy king you are??? You are the man!

Anyhow here are the pictures from the other night
