New York State of Mind
Ever since returning from our New York trip, I have been unable to stop thinking about how wonderful it is there. Flooding myself with New York information has become my current obsession. You'll notice more New York -centric links in the "links" column. Here are some of the newest additions to my daily click list:
Gothamist : City news and viewpoints with a sharp sense of humor.
Gawker : From the same people who bring us "Defamer"; gossip and city news with a mind erasing, scathing sense of humor.
Cityrag : More city-based info.
New York Minute Podcast (a great podcast, more about this later)
The Sartorialist - Guerilla photos of NYC street fashion.
TimeOut New York - City events, arts and perspectives.
Manhattan Users Guide: Arts & culture site.
I've been really into getting my daily news on the go via The New York Times on the web which works out really well on the BlackBerry.
Also key to trying to keep oneself in a New York state of mind are: listening to George Gershwin and watching Woody Allen movies.

Hey Steve,
Having lived in the East Village for eight years before relocating back here in '03, I can understand your yearning...Not a day goes by where I miss stepping out of my building and having NYC at my fingertips...and not by a fucking car!

hey steve. i read a lot of what you write and it's hard to find the time to comment. but i just have to comment that ever since i returned from new york a YEAR ago, i can't stop thinking about it. i was born and raised in anaheim, california so it really opened my eyes (to say the least). i'm planning to go back the last week of may, just me and my mom, to celebrate my college graduation.
hope you are having a wonderful day.

I'm reminded of how beautifully crazy the noise of the subway is...

Steve,
Glad you enjoy the podcast. And thank you for the link in your New York post. Coincidently I got to hear Billy Joel sing New York State of Mind at The Garden the other night. I'll do my best to keep the New York vibe flowing for city enthusiasts like yourself.
Cheers,
Rob
