Calm Before the Storm
Things actually have chilled out in the last two weeks. It's been nice, but next week we get back in the studio and get ready for all the gigs and TV appearances next month. I've had some time to dedicate to thepanicchannel.com adding more and more every day to get ready for (ONe)'s release in 19 days. Can't believe it's actually here, the fruit of 2 years of playing together, and a record we worked on for a year to make. Trips me out. Still don't have the actual CD yet in my hands, we went late with the art design and the addition of a certain 13th track. They should be here any day now.
"Guys, 'Smell the glove' is here..."
The sun just came up. It seems like the sun is always fucking coming up right when I am enjoying myself and I have to go to sleep. The other day I got some sleeping pills to help that situation, but I feel weird the next day after popping 'em - so I just want to take them when it's vital to nod out. Unisom - good stuff.
It's been unbelievably hot here in L.A. Bad hot. Last night all the power on my block went out - everything was dead quiet and everyone went into candle mode. I watched an episode of "Deadwood" I had saved on my laptop. Fuck you DWP!
Outside the nearest window to this desk a swarm of bees has decided to live and breed inside the walls of my apartment. They have a pretty rockin scene happening. By day they are working like mad buzzing around, and by night they all creepily sleep in a big cluster of hundreds on the window sill. At first it made me pretty uncomfortable, but now I am getting kind of used to it.
Lots of stuff to get online about the band, making the video, the record artwork, and still the tour update, but if I think about it all right now my head feels like it's going to explode. Tonight I cleaned up around here, added some more pics to Flickr and kept my hundreds of new insect friends company.
Good Morning.
Good Night.

What a journey, eh? So is it on or did it not make it? hmmmmm *@#?
Like the new photos.
Remember Chamomile tea works really well and doesn't leave you groggy in the morning...if it's really hot, why not try it iced?
Bees. I admire their industriousness. My family coat of arms is a Bee on a Daisy.
When it's actually in your hands...then you'll know!
much love

13th track huh? Can't wait to see what it is! I'm so excited for the release, wish the 15th would hurry up and get here!
Can't wait for the tour either, I feel like I got spoiled getting to see you guys twice in a week in May! I'm in need of another TPC show! Hope you guys are still planning on hitting the 9:30 club again, its pretty much my favorite place in DC.
Whatever happened to that mylocalbands contest to hear the CD before the release? Is that still happening?
And nice new pics!

Well congrats on everything you have accomplised thus far. I get all excited when I hear you guys on the radio or see the video on tv. My friends think it's amusing that I refer to you as my boys like we're all best buds, but honestly you guys have shared in your adventures so much that sometimes it feels like there is some "personal dynamic" there or something and that's awesome.
I have those big fuzzy bees living outside my front door and those little fuckers aren't scared of me at ALL! ( :
Try to enjoy your moment of rest and watch your back, those bees are not your friends ( :

" the addition of a certain 13th track"
Shut up! Say swear?! That's freakin' sweet.

"(ONe)'s release in 19 days"
Wait, isn't it 20? Or am I trippin'?
Posted by: Jenn | July 26, 2006 09:34 AM
It seems to blackout quite a bit here. We've already had several at our apartment. I can't wait for the album release... I love you boys and I think I'm actually going through show withdrawals!
Very Amityville with the bees. If you hear a voice say "GET OUT" then get the fuck out of there Steve!

Steve...my Doctor had me try Benedryl for insomnia...non addictive and no hangover the next day.
Just take a couple a while before you want to sleep...you wont feel an overwhelming knock you out sensation...they just help make you drowsy.
Works very well for me unless I'm really amped about something....worth a shot anyway.
Have a good day...thanks for the update :0)
PS...Bring on the Storm baby...I am MORE than ready!!!

It definitely is about to be a storm! It was so weird to see the video on VH1! I wasn't even watching, and I heard the familiar beginning and just stared. So weird to see the band on the "big" screen (you know, big compared to the computer screen!).

Isnt the noise of the bees annoying? what if they all get mad at u and attack u!!! lol

Hey Steve -
Don't know if you read these comments, but just wanted to say that NYC is waiting for you, bro. You guys are going to be a breath of fresh air out here, musically speaking. I've hipped all of my friends to your site, the new record, all of it... it's so fucking rare to hear brains, rockology and lyricism all in one pile. You know? If you guys keep banging away, and keep that muse front and center, I'm going to hear the new Zep someday. Love your stuff - peace.

hello my favorite singer
19 days!! Personally I can't wait to hear Lie Next to Me. I bet it's gorgeous.
You'll probably hate me for saying this.. I haven't had any problems with the power and I've had a/c to get me through the scorching heat. (ducks the flying tomatos) Y'all are welcome to come over if you need to get away from the heat.
We have hummingbird friends that visit the feeder on our balcony all the time. I named them Fred and Wilma. haha
peace out homie
you & G are missed

its amazing to me how invested I am in tpc and you guys individually and you dont even have your record out yet. dont misunderstand, I dont mean in a stalkery way. I just mean that, I dont follow alot of " mainstream" music. Its just lost its soul. you guys put soul in it. I guess is the best way to describe it. I remember Dave saying something to the effect of rock being dead (my appologies if misquoted, im paraphrasing)
and that is so true. all i mean to say is you guys have found something that touches me to the very core. you have found it, im grateful to hear it, and may you never loose it.
-sorry for the off topic banter, but I said what I wanted, with much love, and eager anticipation in wait of what is to come.
rock on gentelmen rock on!!

Amazing, kinda of surreal in a way to read this. I mean..... I remember the first show at the Dragonfly like crazy. Seems like yesterday, but it was awhile ago. Wow....between the here and now. Just blown away......Looking forward to actually picking the cd up.
BTW: I have a Merlin across my street. Who chases Crows away...and rules the Public Park like it's nobody's business. Amazing how Mother Nature works.....

Bobbi Flekman: You put a *greased naked woman* on all fours with a dog collar around her neck, and a leash, and a man's arm extended out up to here, holding onto the leash, and pushing a black glove in her face to sniff it. You don't find that offensive? You don't find that sexist?
Ian Faith: This is *1982*, Bobbi, c'mon!
Bobbi Flekman: That's *right*, it's 1982! Get out of the '60s. We don't have this mentality anymore.
Ian Faith: Well, you should have seen the cover they *wanted* to do! It wasn't a glove, believe me.

Hi Steve! I like the Unisom- they put me to sleep but I always end up with dry mouth the next morning.
Counting the days to the 15th!!!
Much love,
Kim

Sleepy time tea helps me when I can't get to sleep. Not being on the computer all night long helps too! haha...always makes me feel tweaked the fuck out, to be online throughout the whole night...its no wonder you can't sleep!
I can't wait for the album. Do you know which song will be the next single yet? Can't wait till TPC comes back to San Francisco!!!!
Love, Amber :)
