Q:
what kind of acoustic guitars do you and Dave play?
(LordLiefpin)
A:
Dave plays his white DN model from Yamaha. I have a Taylor I bought 3 years ago which I really love.
Q:
Are the purple streaks still purple, or have they faded to dodgy lilac?
(RecklessPrincess)
A:
They actually held up pretty well. Vegetable dye is notorious for fading quickly, but I'm on month 3 with no re-application and it's still holding up. Somewhat of a "dodgy fuschia" right now.
Q:
What guitar were you playing on Leno and Jimmy Kimmel?
(Eric)
A:
I am playing PRS now. I have two black Soapbar SE's. The single coil buzz was impossible, so I had them refitted with hum-canceling single coils. They're still pretty loud, though. The Fender Stratocasters were sounding really thin. My homemade spray paint paint jobs might have fucked up the tone. I played a leftover PRS that Dave wasn't using, and really fell in love with it. It's way easier to hold/play than a Strat, and the sound is so much bigger. Plus, the clean tone is way higher output where the Strat would just disappear.
Q:
Love (ONe) SO much that it has rarely left the cd player since I bought it the day it came out. I was wondering if you guys are still working on Planchette because I think Night One is great and would love to hear more like it.

A:
We aren't working on "Planchette" now, were focused on the touring set at the moment. When I last worked on it, it was about 7 songs completed. I think it will be around 10 in its final form, but that's hard to say it could grow. The way it's laid out at the moment, "Night One" is the 4th song, after an introduction, then "Charlie & Sarah", and "Something Wicked (This Way Begins)". Then "Night One", a song called "Fireflies in the Cemetery", then "Night Two".

Good morning Steve,
Great "answers". The last few posts have been awesome. Thanks for the obscure findings which provide a momentary break in my mundane day. By the time listed on the posts, it seems that your're quite a night owl. Do you find that is when you are most creative?

here you go Mark.....
Planchette
(From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia)
A planchette is a triangular or heart-shaped board supported by castors which, when lightly touched and moved by the fingers, is claimed to spell out supernatural or spiritual messages. A pencil would be attached to the planchette, printing letters or other designs on paper to be later interpreted by a medium.
The most common use of the planchette is with a Ouija or spirit board. In this instance, it is sometimes referred to as an "indicator" or "pointer". Used since the beginning of the Spiritualism movement of the mid-nineteenth century, planchettes predate the invention of spirit boards.
Although speculation exists that the planchette was named after its inventor, the French word "planchette" translates to English as "little plank."

Hey Steve - love, love, love your Maui photos... We are going for Christmas after a whistle-stop in Lala land. The flight is a bit of a killer from the UK but is well worth it!
So as TPC are not coming to the UK we are coming to you, just crossing my fingers that our paths will cross in the form of a LA gig whilst we are there!

I was also wondering about the Spring tour recap & would love more musical teasers from 'Planchette'...
Is it just me, or are there not fireflies out here, Steve?

Thanks for answering my question about "Planchette"! Now I'm wondering when it might be coming out? Nope, I'm not too pushy... :) Btw Mark, "Planchette" is a project that Steve and Dave were working on. I think you can find more about it in the archives around September or October of 2004 when they were still calling it "Project P."

Nevermind:
If you live in the United States, west of about the middle of Kansas, you are not apt to have the flashing type of fireflies in your area. Although some isolated sightings of luminous fireflies have been reported from time to time from regions of the western U.S., fireflies that glow are typically not found west of Kansas. The reason for this phenomenon is not known.
Bummer.

Night One was one track that took me some time to get into until Steve explained the Ouija Board connection. Thanks to the knowledgeable ones for the Planchette explanation. Steve: will this be released as a concept type album at some point?
(ONe) has been on my CD player constantly since I got it - CU in the UK, cheers.
