In Praise of "The Illusionist"

"From the furthest corners of the world, where the Dark Arts still hold sway..."
The Illusionist is one of those rare little treasures that you owe it to yourself to seek out and enjoy. It's not getting a big push, God knows why because it's a great film. Edward Norton plays the mysterious illusionist "Eisenheim" who is caught in a love triangle with a childhood sweetheart and her fiance', the Crown Prince. It's part murder mystery, love story, and very well done. Loved it.

OMG Yes I loved it at the end when the detective guy put 2 and 2 together and realized what the real illusion was, and that they were all fine, fucken brilliant!

Looks good.
Loike the Alan Moore vid too. I was never much into comics, but Arkham Asylum stands up there as one of the best things written in the 20th century!
Miserable bugger though, isn't he!

Steve, The Illusionist is actually getting a very substantial push by Yari Film Group. It premiered at Sundance but the price tag was too big due to its independent financing.
It's been in the top ten at the box office for over 4 weeks, outlasting films with almost double the amount of theaters.
It's made more than 30 million domestically and will probably end up at about 50 million making it a massive independent success.
