Bing Crosby & David Bowie: Little Drummer Boy
One of the greatest duets ever. Young Bowie and Bing Crosby, the old school crooner in a completely insane yet really great sounding pairing. I love how this is a whole scene between the two of them, all scripted but they pull it off so effortlessly. Also points for the band that comes in on the bridge and kicks it into 1970's variety show turbo.

i was just reading your Steve's Exit Plan 2007 post, how do you see the future of The Panic Channel in relation to this?
Posted by: Steve L | December 7, 2006 12:03 PM
Steve's Exit Plan 2007: Move to Phoenix AZ, then you can really complain. :) But, at least will not be far from "civilization" and you can always visit. It will make the heart fond of what you moved from. ;) ha!
Have a great day and Happy Holidays!

p.s. I think you should come down to the Whiskey on 12/16 if you are around. Awesome band (Vayden) going to play. They are marvelous, baby!

Hey Steve,
What is the difference between the free download version of Loophole and the Best Buy download version? The Best Buy version is a decent amount longer.

I love the Drummer Boy clip and hate to admit I saw this when it first aired. Drummer Boy is one of my favorite Christmas songs. Sadly - David Bowie opted for the Hollywood look these days. I miss his crooked teeth it made him have a unique and sensual appearance. Now he has those Hollywood chiclets caps.

Peace on earth...how fitting that this was filmed on September 11, 1977...my senior year in high school. Sad that Bing died a month later and never got to see it air...or see the public's reaction to him and that "clean-cut kid", as he said in reference to David. Truly a Christmas classic.

Thanks for sharing this. Yes, I fully agree on the great interaction between the 2. Now I feel all nostalgic

btw, the suicide gig rocks. I have just read the spray condom and french newsreader articles, plus comments and cried laughing. That sense of humour is so dry it may just be what's been causing that cough of yours!

Steve,
You're the best. Great guy, class act all the way and thanks for always keeping us up to date and never bullshitting. We love you, man.
Can't wait to see you again in Jan in AC (maybe NYC too). I really wish we could be out in LA for your acoustic shows, but I'll take what I can get!
Love,
Sue

I read your post at the Aslyum. :-)
When Sue and I saw the post on Saturday she said it was too simular to "Now begins our broadcast day" 2 years ago, so you can imagine what ran through our heads.
Your right. Capitol sucks. Not only are they dicking over the artist they are dicking over the fans. Besides not supporting a fall tour that you guys anticipated (and the fans too) but they STILL have not sent Sue, Kristen and myself the "thank you" package they promised us for the listening party. 5 months and counting....I'm about to email the chick and tell her where to shove the shit. (Last email she sent me was on November 9th was she was waiting for t-shirts from NYC. HELLLOOOO I AM IN NYC. I can pick them up myself)
I have tickets to the Borgata show in NJ and Radio City though I am not thrilled I had to buy "Stupidnova" tickets to see the band I've wanted to see since I last saw them in May. But such is life. At least NJ is general admission so I'll be right up front at the rail (look for me ;-))
And if you do some small club acoustic solo shows don't forget NYC!! We have plenty of lovely intimate stages for you to perform on. Besides a group of enthusiastic fans to come, watch and listen!

Steve -
Thanks for posting on the assylum regarding the "end of broadcast" message. You know we are ALLLL eager to see you boys play again.
I wish you could break free from that corporate bullshit and just get out there and TOUR! Teahouse should have been the first single...hands down!
I wish you guys were touring on your own and not with the RSSN stuff. I'll keep my fingers crossed it will happen!
Happy Holidays!

(sigh of both relief and sadness at the prospect of missing you do your "roots" - don't worry, not asking dumb questions about hair this time!)

Nice to get some love from your myspace account. (Ya know Dave really is super nice and loves us up a lot.) I know what you mean about the weather in LA, when I lived in southern Ca. I used to joke, there are two seasons day and night. When I moved back to New York my senses were hungry for the change in the weather, my eyes were happy to see snow! I enjoy the winter for the most part, the only time is just after the snow when you have to clear out the pathways, mostly it is just really beautiful. Have a magical christmas, and give us some more love here on myspace...Bonny
