I love this guy! It's the first time ever that I've actually been excited about a politician on a national level. I think he's exactly what American needs. It's a cliche, but he feels like a breath of fresh air. Now let's just hope he beats Hilary for the democratic nomination.
Okay, I normally don't ask people who they vote for because I've learned that most people don't like answering that question (for whatever reason.) I debated on asking you since we seem to have the same political views, but I guess I don't have to ask anymore.
OBAMA IN '08, BITCHES!
And let me just say how excited I am that you feel the same way I do about this.
politicians are crooks. but, so are stock brokers. come to think of it i have probably been a crook sometime in my life, like when i stole a dollar out of my dads wallet when i was 6. idk what to think. i like his game though.
For once we have choices and I'm still deciding. I haven't quite yet gotten onanyone's bandwagon just yet...We have the chance to have the first Woman Presient or the first African American President. It's an exciting time!
Thanks Steve for sharing. I watched that live on tv this past Saturday. It was a very exciting and very historical moment. One of my friends was at the rally in Springfield...outside in the cold. She's a brave soul.
I have a good feeling that Obama will win the democratic nomination.
Go Obama! We need him in the White House. I love this man too! I am proud to say I voted for him in '04.
we woke up sunday morning and saw this speech on tv.. we were ecstatic! we had never really really heard him speak before and we were blown away......
my fiancee thinks that a Gore/Obama ticket would be the best.. personally I think it's going to end up being Clinton/Obama but I really think the country would benefit from Obama leading us for awhile.
Plus seeing Gore shake Frusciante's hand was SO KEWL!!
you have GOT to be kidding? a far-left radical with absolutely no tangible experience? telling everyone that the lives of the soldiers who died fighting for us were "Wasted"??? this guy is a disgrace.
If any of you were asked to name his greatest accomplishment, could you name ONE accomplishment? Other than being elected to the Senate just two and a half years ago, and being simultaneously black and yet likeable to white folks, I mean.
Obama is just a human Rorschach Blot -- a figure so devoid of definition and meaning that what his devotees see in him is more an insight into them than into him.

Even with your rants (and who shouldn't be allowed to have those on their own site?)Still feelin' ya - even still TOTALLY diggin' "Said You'd Be" even though I don't agree politically.
I sure can name some accomplishments!
Here's just a few examples from his website:
"In the Illinois State Senate, this meant working with both Democrats and Republicans to help working families get ahead by creating programs like the state Earned Income Tax Credit, which in three years provided over $100 million in tax cuts to families across the state. He also pushed through an expansion of early childhood education, and after a number of inmates on death row were found innocent, Senator Obama worked with law enforcement officials to require the videotaping of interrogations and confessions in all capital cases.
In the U.S. Senate, he has focused on tackling the challenges of a globalized, 21st century world with fresh thinking and a politics that no longer settles for the lowest common denominator. His first law was passed with Republican Tom Coburn, a measure to rebuild trust in government by allowing every American to go online and see how and where every dime of their tax dollars are spent. He has also been the lead voice in championing ethics reform that would root out Jack Abramoff-style corruption in Congress.
As a member of the Veterans' Affairs Committee, Senator Obama has fought to help Illinois veterans get the disability pay they were promised, while working to prepare the VA for the return of the thousands of veterans who will need care after Iraq and Afghanistan. Recognizing the terrorist threat posed by weapons of mass destruction, he traveled to Russia with Republican Dick Lugar to begin a new generation of non-proliferation efforts designed to find and secure deadly weapons around the world. And knowing the threat we face to our economy and our security from America's addiction to oil, he's working to bring auto companies, unions, farmers, businesses and politicians of both parties together to promote the greater use of alternative fuels and higher fuel standards in our cars."
Natalie you do realise with another republican leader, the whole world's opinion of 'political' America will sink even lower....
Without a new stance in the US on the environment, well currently being 19 now - its probably not a good idea for me to have children, as they might not be able to live with climate change.
Looking at which country to 'rectify' next is not really a good idea.
Supporting creationism being taught in schools, probabaly not the best way to educate a nation.
we are all inherently doomed no matter what. the world will always be in chaos. politics will always be corrupt (recent presidents are prime examples).
However, it'll be as Vice President. The world should get used to Clinton-Obama. They're going to be around for the next 10 years or so. Obama will then run and be elected Prez in 2016.

Dude! It's not all as dark as you make it out. I've been around the block a bit. Yes, the world goes through times of crisis/chaos, there are always corrupt politicians - however, I look at 42 and 43 as being a LOT more misguided than corrupt, but look back before you were probably born - Nixon, Johnson(!) were both entirely corrupt and awful. Truman wasn't terribly good, neither was Eisenhower; FDR was a megalomaniac - no matter WHAT the high school texts tell you. That said, the world keeps turning 'round - the flowers still bloom in spring (hopefully a bit earlier this year with the whole global-warming BS) and kids still play in the parks (depending on which country you are/aren't lucky enough to be born).
Obama/Hillary/Pat Paulson - whoever gets elected, it really won't fundamentally change anything - much as 'W' hasn't, nor Bill Clinton (who totally p***ed me off all of the time).
Don't worry so much. It's all going to be alright. I get that it seems so URGENT at points in your life, but the reality is there is no real 'slippery slope' so just take some time to enjoy some of the smaller pleasures available.
This man is so brilliant.
I heard his speech from the Democratic Convention, went and took a look at his website...finally, a uniquely intelligent individual asking to stand and represent this country. God, it's like a breeze in the Sahara.
I signed up for him the day I saw his website, two months ago. I'm behind this guy all the way to the Presidency, and God willing he takes it.
Come back to Portland again soon! The TPC performance was so fucking cool last night...and you are one of the nicest, most approachable guys in the business! Glad you could make it over to Dante's to watch our Stormy do her thing!
Enjoy the rest of the tour! My husband and I are going to catch the Long Beach show as well. OBAMA '08!
hey Steve....im so so so sorry I had to miss the Milwaukee show...it was my daughters 8th birthday..we just listed to teahouse while we ate key lime pie (her fav!..both..lol) :D
anyway...Hell Yes to OLDSCHOOL for pointing out that Hilary and Obama will most likely team up...I feel it would be a radical and much needed change that isnt far-fetched at all. Its exactly what this country needs...a new direction..the one we've been on for the last century hasnt been working so hot obviously. revolutions are common in newly formed countries...and in the greater scope of things the US is a fairly new country...so Viva la Revolucion!
Hi Steve. Hope the tour is going well. My friend met you after the concert in Vancouver BC last night and you totally swept her off her feet!
Just to get my two cents worth in, I agree time for change is way past due. Obama could be what we're looking for, if he can manage to wrangle the nomination away from Hilary.
I hope she isn't involved in any way, shape or form. I'm all for equality and having a woman president - heck, I'm a proud educated woman - but I don't want equality at the cost of a better future for our nation. (You may have the soap box back now...)
Hi Steve! Haven't posted around your parts in a while so I thought I'd come by and say hello.
I'm really glad you posted this video because Obama is one of my favorite candidates. not just because I'm from Illinois like he is, but because he actually makes sense.
Hillary Clinton (who grew up in the same town and graduated from the same high school as I did) makes sense too, and as a woman it's exciting and inspiring to see one running for president.
I'm super excited about next years election... bring it on!!
My vote is for Hillary.
Now when are you going to post something more interesting? Like more of you, perhaps? I'd certainly rather look at THAT
anyday...
Thats goddamn right Obama in '08! I was stoked to see that writen on your guitar Thursday at Oakland's show. He's been my favorite canidate for a while now. You go with your political activism, Steve! :)
Hey Steve! Obama has my vote! I just moved down from Chicago last year and I remember thinking a couple years ago that he would make a great prez. Guess he was thinking the same thing!
So the tour is over... we are all eagerly awaiting to hear / read your thoughts on the journey. You guys playing any summer shows?
After careful consideration, I have decided not to post anything to the effect of "So, how was it?" Having just caught up at 67, I am pretty sure that asking you to comment on such a magnificent adventure would be an insult...
